Our Process

From molding clay to pouring wax, the entire process unfolds through the skilled hands of the talented artisans in our Porto atelier.

We chose Portugal for its excellence & history in ceramic arts. Our team is multicultural, from Brazil & Portugal to Lithuania and Middle-East, each brings their own inspiration to the creation process.

Molding

Our in house mold expert Anabela designs and builds our molds by hand with incredible precision. Molds are made with plaster, and require a lot of care in between uses.

Preparing Clay

Prepared in a high rotation stirrer where water is added to obtain the correct density and viscosity before pouring into the molds.

Drying & Finishing

After the shaping process pieces are left to dry for several days and then finished by hand to eliminate any imperfections.

First Fire

Pieces are fired at 1000°c, they then turn into bisqueware. This firing stage is essential to add mechanical resistance and porosity to each piece, readying it for glaze.

Glazing

In this stage the pieces are selected and dusted off in order to be prepared for glazing. We use custom made glazes & hand paint all our pieces to achieve the best possible color and shine.

Second Fire

After glazing, the pieces will go through a second firing stage at 1280°c, now resulting in stunning porcelain pieces. This takes 30 hours to burn and cool down.

Decoration Fire

The decorating stage can be done by applying decals by hand, or by using brushes to apply luster or paint, and put into the kilns for a final third fire taking appx. 20 hours.

Quality Control

Each piece will be carefully selected with our high standards and the perfect ones will then be made into candles.

Wax Preparation

We mix our in-house wax blends with fine fragrance oils created especially for us, featuring unforgettable scents.

Candle Making

We melt wax slowly & mix in bespoke fine fragrance. Pouring in stages to ensure perfectly smooth tops. Candles are then cured for a week.
